Animal Projects & Environmental Education Sdn. Bhd. (APE Malaysia) is a social enterprise that connects everyday people with endangered animals in a sustainable, responsible, collaborative and unique way.

APE Malaysia was set up to create meaningful experiences for all people wishing to exercise their right to care for all the environment, endangered animals and local communities by partnering on-going projects.

Our main office is located in Kuala Lumpur with project sites in Zoo Negara, Perhentian, Sabah and Sarawak. APE Malaysia is continuously seeking dynamic candidates to join our team.

PROGRAMME COORDINATOR

APE Programme coordinators are the face to the company and are the most important representation of the company’s beliefs and goals. Our Programme Coordinators exude energy and confidence in the Facilitation and Management of volunteers and students. In their own gentle and firm approach, they motivate and encourage positive change and personal impact among their peers and participants.

Programme Coordinators will work on the ground with our project site partners and develop APE Malaysia programmes to contribute positively towards animal welfare, community development and environmental conservation. As such, candidates must have an in depth knowledge of wildlife and an innate passion for people and the environment. A Programme Coordinator's Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate, train and guide volunteers from all over the world in meeting programme targets at project site;
Organise and ensure execution of programmes by focusing on achieving programme objectives;
Liaise, cooperate and develop good working relationship with partner organisations on all working levels who are supporting /providing the project;
Liaise with Head Coordinator and/or Programme Manager on project development, delivery and challenges;
Monitor and evaluate programmes, suggest improvements and develop better strategies for programme delivery.

Applicants for this position must have the following:

University Degree: Zoology, Environmental Studies, Conservation Sciences or Veterinary degree an advantage;
Excellent people person: sociable, patient, good negotiating skills;
High level of of initiative and passion to work with wildlife in captivity to improve animal welfare conditions;
Excellent written and spoken English and Malay;
Sharp facilitation and leadership skills and passion for animals, people and conservation;
Exceptional initiative in work and project development, to come up with new and novel ideas, develop plans to put them into action and to see it through to the end achieving set targets;
Ability to develop manuals and booklets;
Experience of working with volunteers an advantage;
Familiarity working with animals (particularly apes) or zoo environment, and knowledge of husbandry and enrichment practices a distinct advantage.
